NPCI Updates BHIM App, Now Allows You To Add Airtel And Paytm Payments Bank

NPCI has also added new banks, making a total 67.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has updated its cashless payments app, BHIM, with performance improvements, bug fixes and enhanced QR code scanning feature. The Android and iOS update also adds new banks that you can link to your UPI (Unified Payments Interface) account as default bank account.

UPI was launched in August 2016 with 21 banks, and over the period of time the number of banks have gradually increased. Currently, the app supports 67 banks, including Paytm Payments Bank and Airtel Payments Bank. This means, if you have a payments bank account with Airtel or Paytm, you link that as a default account on BHIM to send and receive money.
