Nepal's first player to jump in IPL

Sandeep Lamichhane, Nepal's right-arm leg-break googly bowler from my hometown, has been selected for VIVO IPL 2018. Bought by Delhi Daredevils for his base price (₹20 lakhs).

Nepal’s 17-year-old Sandeep Lamichhane created history when he was snapped up by Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction. He now becomes first Nepal player to feature in the IPL. He was purchased for his base price of INR 20 Lakhs. Lamichhane playing for Nepal was the second highest wicket-taker in the Under-19 World Cup 2016, picking 14 wickets that included a 5 for 27. His 5 for 27 against Ireland also included a hat-trick.

Lamichhane had earlier represented Sydney-based club Western Suburbs after an invitation from Michael Clarke.
Earlier, Day One of auction saw many dramatic purchases, with Ben Stokes being the most expensive player, yet again. T20 specialists’ like Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Lasith Maling were left unsold along with Murali Vijay, Hashim Amla, Jonny Bairstow, Parthiv Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Tim Southee and Ishant Sharma. There were over 78 players who were sold of which 29 were overseas players.
